Overall, in 1995 the largest group of travelers to Australia were the Japanese. However, by 2000 they had been replaced by visitors from the UK and the US. In the 90’s most visitors used a travel agency but a decade later the majority of tourists were backpackers.
In 1995 140,000 Japanese tourists visited Australia whereas there were only around 100,000 visitors from the UK and the US. However, five years later in 2000 this demographic had reversed with US and UK visitors outnumbering Japanese tourists by around 4 to 1.……
