　　A glance at the bar chart reveals the change in preferred high-tech products in different age groups in Great Britain in 2009.

　　The data indicated a general decrease across the age ranges in applying phones, personal computers and cameras. The one exception is SavNav which showed a steady increase before a significant decline. The most notable, however, is phones which were extremely popular amongst the youngest age group, with a little under 90% of the age population enjoying using it. The popularity fell slightly each generation, reducing to 64% of the 41 to 60 cohort. This is contrast to the oldest age group who just shared 38%.

And it should be pointed that the proportion of using SavNav was equal to that of using cameras in the oldest age group (24%).

　　Young people who commit serious crimes should be punished in the same way as adults. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

　　Research shows that teenagers are likely to be immature and rebellious so that they might conduct some antisocial behaviors, such as drug abuse, shop lifting, rape and so on. In this article, attention is given to whether the same penalties which are exerted on adults should be given to those juveniles who commit serious crimes.

　　On the one hand, undoubtedly, there are numerous advocates who are in favour of the viewpoint that teenagers are too young to be imprisoned or punished capitally as adults. In other words, depriving the individuals of their freedom inevitably brings negative effect to themselves and their family, especially their parents who give their entire love to their only child. The youth may lose the chance to receive education, and live a normal life as ordinary people in their golden age. What’s worse, they may find it hard to readapt to the society when they are set free.

　　On the other hand, critics contend that severe penalty should be conducted on those youngsters who behave badly and aggressively so that they can better realize the mistakes. For instance, due to the high number of guns involved in violent offending in some North American countries, an ongoing debate has centered on the appropriate way to reduce young people gun violence. Recent policies have called for the same strategies of adults including stiffer punishment to deal with youngsters. Another case in point is that cyber-crime, currently, is a new channel of crime in our society. It is frequently reported that the teenagers who indulge in the virtual life are fail to distinguish right from wrong. In this case, some of them may spread pornographic information online to those younger generations or peers. In order to solve this problem, more stringent laws should be enacted to supervise these children in the same way as adults.

　　In short, it is hard to reach an identical conclusion. Nonetheless, more investments in prevention, avoidance, and harm reduction should be granted by the authority so as to tackle the juvenile delinquency.
