　　The maps show the riverside park in 2010 and riverside park now.

　　Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features. Make comparisons where relevant.

　　The two maps clearly demonstrate the extensive changes that have taken place in Riverside Park since 2010.

　　The park itself is vastly different now from its 2010 incarnation. The main area of the park had no facilities whatsoever, with a railway running around the north and western edges of the park, and running also from the north east end of the park to the trees located in the south west. The park now boasts a cycle path alongside the river located in the northern part of the park, with a cafe having been built beside it. A stadium now exists in the centre with a parking area standing to the west of the park near the heritage railway. A hotel now stands to the south of the park. The river and heritage railway have undergone no changes.

　　As is clear from the two maps, Riverside Park underwent substantial changes after 2010 and is vastly different now.

　　Task2

　　Some people think that schools should stop teaching students by using books, because students find them boring and that children can learn from films, TV, video games and computer instead. To what extent do you agree?

　　The role of video technology and gaming has become a central part of how we understand education in the twenty-first-century. Books, while still an integral part of the learning process, are no longer the most essential aspect of a student’s education.

　　Video gaming may appear to be more enjoyable for students, but not everyone accepts that there are any significant educational advantages to it. There are clear dangers associated with encouraging the use of gaming technology on a regular basis, not least the threat that this could lead to addiction. Further, statistics show that constant use of video technology has an adverse effect on an individual’s attention span.

　　Video technology is used widely in classrooms now and is certainly more efficient for teachers, but technology itself is not responsible for improving essential skills. Most experts regard literacy as the most important skill to teach children from a young age. Evidently, the best way to improve literacy is to allow children access to as many books as possible. Reading is, therefore, the most important ability a person can have. Statistics show that people with low literacy levels are less likely to secure opportunities in later life and are affected adversely in the workplace.

　　In conclusion, while I would agree that gaming and technology can have a very positive effect on the learning experience and is undoubtedly rewarding for many young people, it cannot be forgotten that books are the cornerstone of the learning experience. Thus, I believe strongly that books must remain an integral part of the classroom
