【启德考培】托福口语和写作部分都对考生的词汇Vocabulary有明确的要求，SpeechRater和E-Rater这两个评分引擎将会评估考生的词汇量，如果频繁使用不准确的、表意模糊的词会表明你的词汇量有限，从而影响2个部分的分数。今天我们就来看下有哪些。

一、Very / so

Very这个词在英语表达中“very”是一个力度很低的词语，“very”的频繁使用不仅会让考官觉得无聊，还显示出了考生贫瘠的词汇量，甚至有的时候very并不能给句子加分，比如：My mother is very caring 和 My mother  very caring 两句的表达其实是没有因为very产生不同。所以同学们，别再用毫无新意的very了，如果你的确有频繁使用very的习惯，可以在口语写作的练习中加以重视，适当使用一些替换词，逐步取代单调的very+形容词表达法，如：

very afraid → terrified

very boring →dull

very careful → cautious

very cold →freezing

very difficult→ challenging

...

二、Of course

不建议使用of course的原因有两个，因为这样的过渡会暗示你的读者以及听众并不聪明，或者你并没有充分解释你的想法。

×Of course,living in a dorm is a lot less expensive than living in an apartment.

√Clearly, living in a dorm is a lotless expensive than living in anapartment.

三、Thing / Stuff

使用“thing或“stuff”意味着你不知道如何描述一个物体或一些现象，暴露了自己的词汇匮乏，所以建议考生一定要学会用详细的词去进行描述表达。

×Finally, I have taken my things to my new dorm.

√ Finally, I have taken my belongings（财物） to my new dorm.

×The stuff  in the meeting lasted more than two hours.

√The proceedings（事件） in the meeting lasted more than two hours.

四、always

使用always是典型的夸大了论点中的观点，因此，不建议托福考生使用这个副词，可以尝试替换为usually 。 

×My roommate always throws hisclothes on the floor.

√My roommate usually throws hiclothes on the floor.

五、Never

这里特意指出，never和always有相似的问题，never也容易夸大。

×My roommate never lost her temper because she was a goodperson.

√Instilled in her that being angry was an unacceptable form of human expression, my roommate rarely lost her temper.

六、A lot

在关于数量的表达中，也要做到用词精准，并且正式，在写作中，a lot of/lots of表示为“许多”，较为不正式，除了使用many或者much来表达，还可以恰当的使用a plethora of进行表达。

×A  lot  of  books are piled onto the bookshelves by the wall.

√A plethora of（过多的） books are piled onto the bookshelves by the wall.

七、Good

在托福口语写作中小伙伴们是不是还在用 good？你的词库真的该更新啦！这些词不仅仅简单基础，无法体现出你的词汇量，也不能表示事物不同程度的“好”。

×My TOEFL mentor was a good help to when while I was completing my speaking and writing practice tests.

√My TOEFL mentor was a splendid（极佳的） help to when while I was completing my speaking and writing practice tests

八、Nice

和前面很多词的问题一样，nice也是一个表意模糊不准确的词，而对于想取得高分的托福考生来说，应该选择更加准确的词来表达。

×For these reasons, I have usually found my mother to be nice.

√For these reasons, I have usually found my mother to be cordial（亲切的）.

九、Really

Really的问题像开头提到的very和so，是一个不太精确表达程度的词，所以建议大家可以用更高级的词汇替换表达：

×I told my friend that it was really important to talk to the professor if he had questions about his final term project.

√I told my friend that it was distinctly important to talk to the professor if he had questions about his final term project.

十、Anything

Anything可以是一切事物，这种不准确的用词描述尽量不要出现在托福考试中，考生们需要学会详细描述事物，展开解释anything这个词也会让你的论据更加充分。

×I would do almost anything inorder to live with a compatible roommate.

√Interviewing several people before making my choice, requiring references, and making sure the chosen candidate gives me a $2,000 deposit will ensure that I can select the most qualified person to live with me.

通过以上这些词不难看出，托福考试的用词还是以准确、不模糊语义为出发点，在此基础上再使用恰当的高级词汇，但是一定要弄清词意与语境才运用，也要注意不同单词在表达程度和感情色彩上的区别。同学们在日常积累时，可以通过查阅权威词典，熟练掌握这些词汇的使用语境，查找例句了解正确用法。
