【启德考培】在雅思口语评分标准中,要求考生如果想要获得7至以上的高分,需要会使用“some less common and idiomatic vocabulary(一些少见的习语)”。习语是什么呢?它们就像我们中文里的,“雪上加霜”“雪中送炭”“宰相肚里能撑船”这类表达,利用比喻、类比来使得谈话更有趣或者更生动。它们就像一道菜的调味料,不是多多益善,不然就会宣兵夺主,反而使得整道菜失去该有的味道。因此,最好的学习方法就是:记录下来,坚持每天使用一到两个在自己的英语表达中,慢慢熟悉并习惯去用它们替换原有表达即可!一起加油吧!

举个例子:

二、普通的表达:

地道的表达:

I’m on the fence.
举个例子:
How do you think of social media?
I’m in two minds about this. On the one hand, it allows people to connect, on the other hand, overusing it can cause self-isolation to real world.
三、普通的表达:
The important thing is …
地道的表达:
It boils down to + noun.
(可以想象把水煮干剩下的精华部分)
举个例子:
What do you think of space travel?
It boils down to money. Can we afford it?
普通的表达:
It’s the best.
四、地道的表达:
It’s the bee’s knees.
(蜜蜂的膝盖;不过要注意这个是单数形式,前面描述的事物必须也是单数)
举个例子:
What is your favorite kind of cake?
I love chocolate cake, it’s the bee’s knees.
普通的表达:
I don’t mind. I don’t like or dislike it.
五、地道的表达:
I can take it or leave it.
举个例子:
Do you like playing video games?
I can take it or leave it.
六、普通的表达:
I don’t like it.
地道的表达:
It’s not my cup of tea.
举个例子:
Do you like cakes?
It’s not my cup of tea.
七、普通的表达:
I don’t understand. It’s confusing for me.
地道的表达:
I can’t make head or tail of it. (英式)
I can’t make heads or tails of it. (美式)
I can’t get my head around it.
举个例子:
How do you think of modern art?
I can’t get my head around it. It’s usually too abstract to understand.
八、普通的表达:
The XXX I’m going to talk about is …
地道的表达:
The XXX I want to talk about is none other than …
举个例子:
The interesting person I want to talk about is none other than my father.
九、普通的表达:
… is the best.
地道的表达:
… is hands down the best.
… is second to none.
… is a cut above the rest.
举个例子:
Who is your favorite sportsperson?
Eileen Gu is hands down the best.
十、普通的表达:
It’s ordinary.
地道的表达:
It’s run-of-the-mill.
It’s a run-of-the-mill XXX.
举个例子:
How do you think of Andy Liu’s latest movie?
