　　柏柏尔人(Berbers)

　　"Berber"一词原为罗马人所称的「野蛮人」之意，"Barbary"一词原指的是非洲北岸。北非穆斯林民族集团。柏柏尔人的经济生活方式现已不统一，有的是以农业为主的定居民，有的则是以畜牧业为主的游牧民或半游牧民(semi nomad )。柏柏尔人信奉伊斯兰教的过程中，男女都会戴头巾，面纱(veil)(特殊的深蓝色dark blue)部分柏柏尔人的清真寺(mosques)建筑亦与阿拉伯人有所不同，尖塔不是圆形的，而是四角形(square;quadrangle )或六角形(hexagon )的。

　　柏柏尔目前分成三类：虽然大多数柏柏尔人是定居农民(settled residence)，但是有些部落是季节性迁徙(Seasonal Nomad)冬天在低地耕种，夏天在山区草原牧羊，在北非经常要跨越沙漠和山陵(deserts and mountains)。其他则是常年牧民(Nomad herdsman)。其种植的主要作物是小麦(wheat)、大麦(barley)、水果、葡萄(grape)、豆类、蔬菜、坚果(nuts)、油橄榄(Olive oil)。家牛、绵羊、山羊成群，与牛、骡、骆驼(camels)和马(都是animals transport)一起用来拖拉和运输。定居农民住单层石屋(stone houses)，季节性迁徙部落立起防御性和储藏用碎土造据点，放牧时住在山羊毛帐篷(tent)，用grass leaf mats做的草垫地板。传统手工业有制陶和编织等，能烧制各种储粮盛酒的大型容器，以及各种小巧玲珑的杯盘、灯盏、烛台等，编织各种地毯、帐幕以及褡裢等用品。定居的柏柏尔人以村庄为居住单位。每个村庄选举德高望重的长者组成长老会(Presbyterian)，在部落中心广场空地(square)讨论重要事务。
