　　Task 1 The map shows thefire escape plan in a dorm in a university.

　　范文：

　　The map depicts the inner layout of a dorm withfire escape facility on the second floor of a university.

　　In the south of the student accommodation are sitedthree bedrooms (fromNo.3 to No.5). People who live in the bedroom No. 3 can escape by stairs at themeeting point 1, which is on the opposite side of this bedroom in the southwest. Also, in the west corner of the dorm is bedroom No.1 where it is adjacent to bedroom No.2. In the meanwhile, those students from bedroom No.1 and No.2 can get easier access to thesame meeting point as bedroom No.3.

　　There is a lift in the middle of the northern part of this building. Next to the lift, there is another new meeting pointfor those who live in the bedrooms from No.4 to No.7. When fire occurs, peopleare not allowed to use lift. Instead, they would usemeeting point two to survive.

　　Overall,according to the plan, there are twofire escape routes for those living in the dorm to escape, and the right oneallows more students to escape compared to the leftone.

　　Over recentyears, it is not unusual to see that a growing numberof students enter university or college for further education. The Institute ofEducation in China published its yearly report that the number of collegestudents was a record highlast year, and the issue about whether the students should learn a great variety ofsubjects or just focus on their major subject to become specialists has been the spotlightof the public. As far as I am concerned, I am absolutely for thisviewpoint.

　　No doubt, learning plenty subjects perfectly lays a goodfoundationfor the individualsand enables themto achieve overall development. Owing to the fact that we wereexam-oriented in the high school, we lacked of adequate general knowledgeandpracticalexperience about the outside world. However, by acquiring informationof every field, such as mathematics, economy, psychology, technology, the youthare likely to be more rounded so that their scope ofknowledge can be substantially broadened.

　　Nonetheless, the college students have less pressure once they focus on a particularsubject. Today, teenagers are under increasingly severe stress in theirstudies, which has also disturbed many adults. For example, the course or module they learn involves deadline assignment, projectdesign or group discussion work. The burden, to some extent, may be extremelyoverwhelming.

　　Some educators also claim that they should focus on the majors due to the fact that it can helpthem to cultivate the professional skills and identify the ideal jobs in the future. Itis recommended by some educationalists that allowing the adolescents to justlearn their own subjects at university can make them be highlycompetitive. In this way, they can probably make full use of what they havelearned in the career age.

　　In short, despite the merits of laying a solid foundation for study whilelearning wide range subjects, it must be stressed that focusing on one subjectis more essential to them. Only with this expertise, can an ideal job andfuture can be ensured.
